Using an image of an empty building and an overcast sky as the cover, and the phrase "Our Last Hope Lost Hope" as the title, this album may have been covered in the dust of time after more than two decades, but for those who truly love post-rock, this self-titled album will live on firmly in their lasting memories, from the past to the present, and to the future.

At the beginning of this century, when the first batch of post-rock flowers were in full bloom, the band Our Last Hope Lost Hope band from Sweden, became a colorful flower that proudly blossomed from darkness and melancholy with this classic debut.

Whenever listening to "Our Last Hope Lost Hope", emotions and thoughts are pulled by the soundscape and atmosphere, vividly filling your heart and mind. The music is simple, usually starting from a certain minimalist note or line, the music is also complex, following the typical interpretation of the post-rock style, using a meticulous structural layout, letting the simple notes or lines slowly spread out and blossom into delicate melodies, which gradually progress like a movie plot in a leisurely cycle, and eventually evolve into a heavy sound-wall that hits the listener's heart.

The musical climax of Our Last Hope Lost Hope is different from those other post-rock bands that rely on roaring and ferocity to intimidate, they may not focus on the strength of the sound, but prefer to present grandiose soundscapes and heartfelt atmospherics in their highs, which stem from the passionate performance of conventional rock instruments and the grand arrangement of innovative orchestral instruments.

Yes, even on the band's debut album, the use of orchestration is already quite proficient, showcasing a unique charm. Especially the violin, the leisurely and atmospheric murmurs of the violin, combined with beautiful guitar rhythms and appropriate drum beats, weave a profound scene of mixed darkness and light, ups and downs of joy and sorrow, influencing the listener's thoughts, making their tides of thought jump and wander between gentle stillness and vast waves.

In this way, the six-track album "Our Last Hope Lost Hope", with its three ever-changing main long tracks connected by three other short songs with different meanings, has become a well-known classic album in the post-rock world, expressing sadness and comfort, conveying despair and hope.

So, of course, "Our Last Hope Lost Hope" will never be obliterated by the dust of time, because the sheer perception and sentimentality we get from the music will never be obliterated by the dust of time.

The band would go on to release their second album "Persist" in 2011, eight years after the release of "Our Last Hope Lost Hope", and their third one "The Cairns", nineteen years later in 2022, both classic albums rooted in darkness and grandeur. However, 2003's "Our Last Hope Lost Hope" has always been difficult to surpass due to its unique orchestral composition and diverse arrangements.

Now, Vrijheid Records and Our Last Hope Lost Hope have teamed up to reissue the 21-year-old album "Our Last Hope Lost Hope" in a new CD and smoked vinyl edition, featuring a precious new track written by the band to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Stay tuned for the collaboration between Our Last Hope Lost Hope and Vrijheid Records, and witness how such classic post-rock music has kept splendor over time.
