From Italy, the depressive/shoegaze black metal band Dreariness follows the rule of this genre with purest, most primitive performing way and saddest, most aesthetic emotional expression, also presents unique female vocals that is howling or lamenting, inserting a bright sharp blade cast by feminine into a hazy wall of depressive black metal. In 2014 and 2016, two masterpieces "My Mind Is Too Weak to Forget" and "Fragments" came out successively. The bitterly trundled melody and the solitarily wandering bright solo straightly reach the listener's mind, perfectly grab each mood immersed in darkness and distress. The clear, sweet interlude of the acoustic guitar and piano gently soothes the sorrowfulness blocked in heart. Again, Dreariness is as fierce as raging waves and as melancholy as vivid flowers. On top of such soundscape, there is the alternation between tearing black vocal and dismal monologue from the female singer, expressing all kinds of feelings within the inner world, as if weeping as well as pouring out, anyone who understands the meaning of depressive black metal can't help shouting in response to the singer's voice. Dreariness is a brilliant flower standing in the depressive black metal world, never withered, and drags you to the most hopeless, beautiful place within your memory at any time.
In 2022, Vrijheid Records collaborated with Dreariness, released "My Mind Is Too Weak to Forget" and "Fragments" on double colored vinyls and special Asian edition digipak CDs. More information, please check:
